Annual Events

New Years Day Charity Swim:

For many years now it has being a ritual at Enniscrone Pier for swimmers to brave the elements on New Years Day and dip into the sea to raise funds for local, national and international charities.

Enniscrone Strand Races

After a lapse of over one hundred years the old tradition of Strand Reces was revived on Enniscrone Beach in June of 2009 with a one day event. Due to its success in'09 a two day event was held in May of 2010 with the support of Sligo County Council.

Wet and Wild Weekend

The Irish Surfing Association will be hosting its annual women's surfing weekend, Wet and Wild Water Women, in Enniscrone on the 29th and 30th May 2010. This is an opportunity to learn to surf or improve your skills. This is a surfing weekend that provides women the opportunity to share information or introduce newcomers to the sport.

Black Pig Festival

Legend has it that a huge boar ran amok in Donegal devouring women and children in its wake. It was pursued and as a result ran south, disappearing into the sea in Sligo; it later resurfaced on Enniscrone beach. Eventually it was slain at Mackduff and, being too large to bury, it was covered by a pile of stones which can still be seen today. A large black pig crafted by local sculptor cillian Rogers can be seen on approach road from Enniscrone. The festival is fun filled with a carnival, street parade, live music, go karting, puppet shows everything the family will enjoy.

It is a day for all the family to view the usual classes for horses, ponies, cattle, sheep and the home industries section including cookery, flowers, farm produce, horticulture, craft, art, photography, woodwork and of course the dog classes.
