Enniscrone is a perfect fishing location, the pier provides bottom fishing for conger, dogfish and occasional ray, float fishing for wrasse and spinning for coalfish, mackerel and pollack. The strand is good for surf fishing, particularly in autumn, for dab, flounder and dogfish and occasional sea trout.
Sea angling, the pier sits right on the bay, which routinely produces remarkable catches of fish, It also has the distinction of having recorded a massive catch of hake in the past, possibly due to the proximity of the continental shelf and very deep water. There is a variety of about twenty-five fish ranging from cod, mackerel, conger or even skate.
"Enniscrone's Killala Bay, is famous for its specimen fish and supplied the Irish record John Dory, together with specimen blue shark, grey, red and tub gurnard, ling and pollack. Other species include coalfish, cod, conger, ray, skate, tope and turbot."
Enniscrone sits right on the mouth of the river moy, Ireland's most prolific salmon angling waters. This magnificent river has produced over 7000 salmon to the rod over the years 2001-2006. The Moy offers a variety of fishing including top class fly water, spinning and worming and fishing is available to suit all tastes and budgets.
