Golfing In Enniscrone Print E-mail

Some say its the North Wests biggest secret, Enniscrone golf course, welcoming golfers with some of the finest links among the budding northwest Ireland golf scene. Golf has been a game played in Enniscrone since the early nineteen hundreds, but the championship course didn't come along until Irish designer Eddie Hackett built in the mid seventy's. In 2000, The Enniscrone Golf Club started a new development with architect Donald Steele, and built six new holes in the most rugged, dunes beside the current course. Once completed the six new holes was ready to be placed into Ireland's elite class.

Situated beside the picturesque seaside town of Enniscrone, the golf course affords panoramic views of Killala Bay, Bartra Island and sandy beaches with Nephin and the Ox Mountains forming the backdrop.

"It's a golf course you need to be ready to play," said Head Professional Charlie McGoldrick of the strong opening holes. "You can't tell someone you're going to play your way in. When you get to the first tee you want to be ready."
